Light and shade of growing old

A photo taken on the way to a temple last year.

You know you're getting old when you have to look up old friends' numbers in the telephone directory because you've forgotten them, and then you can't make them out without glasses.

but Longfellow says;

Age is opportunity no less
Than youth itself, though in another dress,
And as the evening twilight fades away
The sky is filled with stars, invisible by day.
